[Harp-L] Jimmy Rogers Chicago Bound
Does anyone have the actual CD where it lists the musicians for this great
recording? I would go to my grave thinking it was Little Walter playing
harp, it is too distinct and matches up too well with his other works not to
be. As good as Kim is ( Ludella is a great example of that ), the lightness
of the touch on the harp and the way he jumps from note to note, hitting
them dead on screams LW. Even if it was released after Walter passed, can
someone clarify this from the liner notes please. ** See you in Raleigh Sept.
23 - 24, both amps will be there; everyone who has bought a Cruncher (
over 210 now ) were happy they spent what they did to get the unique quality
that goes into our finish, parts, and tone with volume. THOSE reviews and
feedback are what I care about. The Avenger you can get Little Walter's
floating style, that tongue slap he used instead of a note can be heard with all
the power and tone the amp has. My philosophy has been to create
amplifiers that will encompass what LW said ( close ) in that interview. To
encapsulate the air in my hands and then float. The amps will break up when you use
technique, they are on the verge, IMO a tricked out amps for distortion is
doing the player a disservice as they will not grow into being a complete
player if they do not understand how to make the amp do it in their mouth
and hands. Especially beginners who may falsely believe they are making the
amp break up, they could possibly stay in that space longer than necessary.
To each their own, that is just what I work with my engineers to create,
the reviews of the Avenger and Cruncher speak for themselves on my new site.
_www.sonnyjrharpamps_ (http://www.sonnyjrharpamps) I will be video'ing
a new Avenger showcase, the ones from that conference room were not the
best representation of what they can do, however many bought the Avenger from
that clip so I will leave it and improve upon it. In Raleigh there is a 45
minute clinic where I will explain how going through over 2000 amps, PA
heads, stereo consoles, anything with tubes, turned in 5 full production
models. Having worked with 8" speakers for that extended period of SJ1 - SJ2 gave
me the insight for the Cruncher and Avenger, getting me close in trial
testing with the 8's until I came up with the exact blend for each. I will be
in booth 2, right around the corner from the entrance. Hope to see SJ
owners and anyone who wants to be in a full convention of amplifiers. I will end
my clinic of amplified harp with a Sonny Terry style piece I call The
Journey, which got a humbling standing O at the Tone Seminar in 2004 in San
Jose. Thank you all for your support through this issue I am battling, I am
more focused on my playing with hopes of doing my own CD or put out songs
that you can download for $1, and then with the follow up being breaking down
the song in pieces. The ones the are purely just letting it go, not knowing
what I will play next are ones I cannot duplicate as they in the moment,
but you can find areas in these to incorporate into your repertoire if you
feel so inclined. Sincerely, Sonny Jr.
